On 4 July 2024, EARPA co-signed  a joint statement with 109 other European associations representing key European RD&I stakeholders.

While the global technology race accelerates, the EU significantly lags behind in terms of investments in RD&I, in particular related to automotive research, compared to its global competitors.

EARPA calls on the EU Institutions to significantly increase the current RD&I budget in view of next European Framework Programme Research and Innovation (FP10).

We are ready to further discuss the design of FP10 with the EU Institutions. We are fully convinced that Europe has much better potential in the gloal innovation race than what it is currently performing.

Two weeks ago, EARPA had an exhibition stand at the Transport Research Arena (TRA) conference in Dublin (15 – 18 April 2024). Under the with theme “Transport Transitions: Advancing Sustainable and Inclusive Mobility, the 2024 edition of the event attracted over 4000 attendees from across the transport research sector.

We had the opportunity spread awareness about our community of leading European independent R&D providers in the automotive sector too. At the stand, we showcased project videos which EARPA Members have been working on, as well as our 2024 Partners Guide and High-Level Position.

Many of our members were actively involved in many sessions at the Transport Research Arena (TRA), either moderating or presenting.

TRA offers a great opportunity for researchers, policymakers and industry representatives to get together and contribute to the discussion on how research and innovation can reshape the transport and mobility system. The conference provides a unique opportunity to hear about mobility trends in different parts of Europe, learn from achievements in the industry as well as share best practices of policies and implementation.

The next TRA will take place in Budapest, Hungary in 2026.

13 January 2024:

EARPA is proud to share the co-signed open letter urging for continued investment in battery research and innovation under the Horizon Europe programme.

In the open letter, stakeholders from the battery, materials, energy and mobility sectors urge the European Commission to champion continued investment in battery research and innovation under the BATT4EU Partnership, fortifying Europe’s global leadership in battery technologies and contributing significantly to our green transition.

The programme of the European Battery Alliance has been supported by strong commitments to battery R&I by both European Union and industry under the BATT4EU Partnership under Horizon Europe.

It is important that the European Union also stands to the commitments signed in our Partnership agreement, to support technology development at different TRL level, and to strengthen the message of their strategic importance to the battery community, investors and developers.

The European SELFY project is to develop a self-assessment and self-protection toolbox to enhance the security and resilience of Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility (CCAM) systems against potential cyber-attacks and malicious actions.

This is at a time when around 50 million connected and automated cars are expected to be on the road in Europe by 2026. Learn more about the project here.

The SELFY project consortium is willing to address the kind of data to be generated, gathered, and monitored; advanced data processing to identify potential threats; developing new tools to add to the ability to adapt and cope with cyber threats by lessening their impact, and uptake and deployment of services and solutions in this field. SELFY tools are to ensure privacy, confidentiality, and integrity, as well as improve accessibility, in the collaborative CCAM environment.

The solutions developed by the project will first be validated with simulation and in a lab. Three scenarios will then be built in real and controlled environments to demonstrate the toolbox’s performance and usefulness in a collaborative and cooperative environment.

The SELFY project consortium is led by Eurecat and made up of partners from eight countries, including seven EARPA members: TecnaliaApplus IdiadaCEATechnische Hochschule IngolstadtVirtual VehicleEindoven University of Technology and FEV.

E-VOLVE Cluster continued https://www.earpa.eu/e-volve-cluster-continued/ https://www.earpa.eu/e-volve-cluster-continued/#respond Mon, 20 Nov 2023 16:07:58 +0000 https://new.earpa.eu/?p=6792

E-VOLVE stands for Electric Vehicle Optimized for Life, Value and Efficiency.

The Cluster of European projects was created in 2019 with the Horizon 2020 projects ACHILES, EVC1000, FITGEN, SYS2WHEEL, TELL and CEVOLVER. The Cluster is now continued with projects from Horizon EUROPE.

E-VOLVE Coordinators trust that together as a virtual cluster they will produce a greater impact by delivering innovations that cover a wide range of EVs components, designed especially for the new (3rd) generation of EVs to meet the future mobility needs in both urban environment and inter-city trips

The Cluster will produce greater impact acknowledging the importance of connecting parallel R&D activities funded on complementary areas, as stated by the European Commission. The member projects in the E-VOLVE Cluster have decided to prove the higher potential of synergies between projects. As a result, E-VOLVE Coordinators trust that together as a virtual cluster they will produce a greater impact by delivering innovations that cover a wide range of EVs components, designed especially for the new (3rd) generation of EVs to meet the future mobility needs in both urban environment and inter-city trips, while meeting as well the requirements in energy efficiency, usability and cost that the market demands.

The E-VOLVE virtual Cluster focuses on developing groups of components that, working all together in synergy, can meet the future requirements in energy efficiency, fast charging and increased driving range.

The cluster is managed by VIRTUAL VEHICLE Research GmbH and Armengaud Innovate GmbH.
